Sir Syed Institute for Technical Studies is a prestigious project of Cannanore District Muslim Educational Association (CDMEA) which runs Sir Syed College, Keyi Sahib Training College and Sir Syed High School Taliparamba.

Sir Syed Institute is an Unaided Self Financing Degree college affiliated to Kannur University and started functioning in October 2002. The institute is in pursuit of excellence and provides quality education. The college offers M.Sc.Computer Science, M.Sc.Biotechnology, M.Sc.Microbiology, B.Sc Computer Science, B.Sc. Microbiology, B.Sc. Biochemistry. BBM and B.com with Computer application. (The admission to BBM and MSc.(Biotechnology/Microbiology) is through an Entrance Examination.

The Institute is situated on a lovely hillock surrounded by an imposing panorama of nature. The calm and serene atmosphere is conductive to intellectual pursuits. The Institute is 3 Km east of Taliparamba and 25Km north-east of Kannur town.The institute has unmatched infrastructure. It provides a computerized reference library with CD's well equipped IT, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Chemistry Laboratories, ISDN internet facilities and provision for uninterrupted power supply.

The Institute provides hostel accommodation for both boys and girls. The ladies hostel is very close to the campus. There are prayer halls for men and women. Tutorial system is in full swing to motivate the students for better academic excellence. Individual attention and counseling is given to each student. Tests and examinations are conducted regularly and parents are intimated about the progress of their wards from time to time. Various clubs are functioning to rekindle the latent talents of students. Special coaching is given in communicative English for all students. Computer facilities also available to students.The dress code for boys are full sleeve shirts and trousers and that for girls is full skirt with top/churidar/saree.
